Rosenstein, who picked Mueller, plans to leave Justice Dept. shortly after Barr confirmed

(CNN)Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, whose office manages the Russia investigation, is planning to leave the Justice Department shortly after William Barr, the President’s nominee for attorney general, is confirmed, a source familiar with his thinking said. Barr’s Senate confirmation hearing begins January 15, which means a confirmation vote, at the earliest, could occur in mid-February. A source told CNN that Barr made it clear to the White House that he wanted his own deputy — a request that was honored the last time he served as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush. “The attorney general’s balls are in the deputy attorney general’s pocket, and I’m not putting my balls in anyone’s pocket I don’t know,” Barr recalled saying …

Special needs support ‘taking too long’

Sixty-five councils provided comparable data for the last four academic years, starting in 2014-15. Over that period, 26,505 applications took longer than 20 weeks to finalise – including more than 6,000 last year alone. The longest wait for an individual application was in Suffolk – where it took the council 1,023 days, or nearly three years, to finalise one EHCP application. Suffolk County Council said an increased demand for EHCPs had proved particularly challenging – happening at the same time as the transfer from the old system of Statements of Special Educational Needs (SEND). Councillor Gordon Jones, the council’s cabinet member for education and skills, said: “Our priority is to ensure every child gets the correct help and support they …

Is this the end of owning music?

Mumford and Sons star Ben Lovett agrees. “We all use Spotify but I think we all value vinyl,” he told BBC News. “We’ve spent a lot more time talking about how we put our vinyl out than we have done about how we’re going to stream our songs. “We will literally talk about the weight of the vinyl, the presentation, the quality of the cut – all that stuff. People don’t know how important it is to us.” Fellow musician Jack White recently told Rolling Stone he thought the CD was on the way out. “I definitely believe the next decade is going to be streaming plus vinyl – streaming in the car and kitchen, vinyl in the living room …

‘Saw’ Creator Finally Reacts To Theory That Jigsaw Is Kevin McCallister

Of all the civilian-generated ideas about what really happened in famous films and TV shows, relatively few of them hit the perfect pitch of wackiness, nostalgia and evidence-backed accuracy as the theory that Kevin McCallister from “Home Alone” grew up to become Jigsaw, aka John Kramer, from the “Saw” horror movies.  On the surface, this theory just seems ridiculous. Jigsaw has his own backstory, along with a name that is definitely not Kevin McCallister. set forth in 2014 by Jason Concepcion of Grantland and The Ringer, points out a number of connections between Kevin and Jigsaw that — once you are made aware of them — are awfully difficult to un-know: They have comparable appearances (blond hair, blue eyes, similar jawlines). They …
